Water Resources

Every site sheds water somewhere. Handled badly, stormwater floods basements, erodes ditches, and pollutes streams and Lake Michigan. We handle concept, design, mapping, and permitting with local, state, and federal regulators, so new development and existing neighborhoods both drain the way they should.

Erosion Control & Grading Plans

Erosion and sediment control plans that meet DNR technical standards and local ordinances, plus grading plans that keep water moving away from buildings.

Hydrology & Hydraulic Analysis

Runoff, pipe, culvert, and channel modeling to size facilities correctly and show regulators the numbers work.

Shoreline Protection

Design and permitting for shoreline and bank stabilization along lakes and streams.

Permitting

Local, state (DNR), and federal (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA) permits and applications, prepared and tracked to approval.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a stormwater management plan?

It depends on how much land you disturb and how much hard surface you add, and on your local ordinance. Many projects disturbing an acre or more need one. We'll check early so it doesn't surprise you at plan review.

What is a detention pond for?

It holds stormwater after a storm and releases it slowly, so the new development doesn't send more water downstream, faster, than the land did before. Many ponds also settle out sediment and pollutants.

Who handles DNR permits?

We do. We prepare the applications, coordinate with the DNR and other agencies, and track them through approval.
