Municipal Engineering
For seven decades, local governments in southeastern Wisconsin have relied on us as their engineer. We know the agencies, the contractors, and the developers, so projects move through with fewer snags.
Every community gets one dedicated project manager. That person attends your council, plan commission, and board meetings as often as you'd like, and picks up the phone when the clerk calls.
Municipal Engineer Services
Day-to-day engineering support for plan commission, public works, and board staff. Think of us as the engineering department you don't have to staff full time.
- Consulting to plan commission, public works, and village or town board
- Street and utility design and review
- Stormwater, erosion control, and permit review
- Construction observation and administration
Plan & Plat Review
We review site plans, plats, Certified Survey Maps, and engineering plans against your ordinances and standards, and give your board a clear recommendation. Review costs are typically charged back to the developer under your ordinance.
Capital Planning, Budgeting & Special Assessments
Roadway evaluation and pavement management plans that rank streets by condition and cost, so you can budget years ahead. We also prepare special assessment reports and schedules.
Ordinance & Resolution Writing
We draft and edit ordinances and resolutions on engineering topics like stormwater, erosion control, and public works standards, working with your attorney.
Grant Applications
We find and write grants and loans that stretch your budget, and handle the reporting afterward.
- WisDOT Local Roads Improvement Program (LRIP)
- Community Development Block Grant, Public Facilities (CDBG-PF)
- DNR Clean Water Fund and Safe Drinking Water Loan Programs
- DNR Urban Nonpoint Source & Storm Water grants

Frequently asked questions
What does a village or town engineer do?
Reviews plans and permits, plans and budgets for capital improvements, designs streets and utilities, prepares bid documents, oversees construction, and advises the board and plan commission. We scale it to what your community needs.
Do you attend board meetings?
Yes. Your project manager attends council, plan commission, and board meetings as often as you'd like, in person.
Can you help with grant applications?
Yes. We prepare applications for programs like WisDOT's Local Roads Improvement Program, CDBG Public Facilities, and the DNR's Clean Water Fund, Safe Drinking Water, and stormwater grant programs.
How are developer reviews billed?
Most communities charge plan review costs back to the developer, often through an escrow set up under the municipal code. We track review time by project so that's easy.
